The JROTC Department has the overall responsibility of providing instructional
programs designed to motivate young people to be better citizens at the 25
comprehensive district high schools.  

The
Director, JROTC Programs oversees the operation of the department,
consisting of the headquarters,  25 high school programs
(
21 Army, 3 Navy, 1 Air Force) and 72 retired military instructors who train over
4,000 cadets, coach five JROTC teams, raise funds, and support over 1,500
school and community activities annually.

The 21 Army units are designated as Honor Unit with Distinction, the highest
rating possible for  Army JROTC Battalions.

The 3 Navy units are designated as Bravo Zulu Units, the highest rating
possible for Navy JROTC Battalions.

Department support functions include:
Supervising and evaluating core and extracurricular activities
Liaison between component military headquarters and the instructors
Administrative services
Financial and Budgetary services
Logistic services
Transportation support

The primary vehicles for attaining department objectives are the service
